Graduate Training Scheme

The team of Chartered Surveyors in London is looking to recruit exceptional graduates. Candidates must have successfully completed, or be in the process of completing, a R.I.C.S. accredited course. With a 100% first time pass rate we are looking for graduates with proven academic excellence (typically at least three “A”s at "A" Level) and a passion for property to undertake the Residential Property Practice pathway for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Our Residential Valuation and Surveying Department specializes in the top end of the residential market and our clients include private individuals, royal families, companies as well as governments. We undertake formal valuations for litigation, loan security, tax and charitable purposes as well as acting and advising in negotiations for lease extensions and buying freeholds. Due to our client profile discretion, attention to detail and an inquisitive mind will be essential. Much of our work is for court or tribunal and this means candidates must be well prepared at all times and ready for hostile cross examination.

Our two year training scheme concentrates on one-to-one mentoring and hands on experience. Whilst most training will be conducted in-house there will also be an opportunity to study from experts in the relevant disciplines. Graduates will be expected to deal with clients from an early stage. Therefore candidates must have good interpersonal skills and a keen analytical mind.

Near to the time of your interim and final assessment APC Interviews, you will be given advice on your required submissions and will be prepared for your APC Interview with mock assessments.

The Package

John D Wood & Co. has achieved a 100% first time pass rate for all previous graduates and we continue to look for exceptional candidates who have the intelligence and integrity to excel. Therefore we offer graduates a very competitive remuneration package, which is designed to attract the best candidates.

The Application Procedure

Candidates wishing to join the team of Chartered Surveyors in London must make an application in writing (by post and email), enclosing both a short covering letter and a curriculum vitae. Applications for the APC course starting in September 2012 will only be considered after 1st January 2012.
