Cobham is the classic commuter belt village, an area of leafy residential roads and affluent, well maintained homes. More rural are the outlying villages such as East Horsley, West Horsley, Clandons and Bookham, set in the glorious Surrey countryside yet still with local stations for easy access to London. Here you can find a good choice of pretty cottages, spacious interwar family homes and substantial country houses.

The Cobham area is renowned for its superb schools, which include the ACS Cobham International School, Reed's, Notre Dame, Cobham Free School and Feltonfleet, Danes Hill, Parkside, and St John's. Cobham is also close to a number of classic gardens and parks, most famously RHS Wisley and the 18th-century landscape gardens of Painshill and Claremont. The National Trust-owned Polesden Lacey near Great Bookham is a major attraction. The area's excellent sports facilities include numerous quality golf, tennis and rugby clubs.

Trains from Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon station reach London Waterloo and London Victoria in about 35 minutes; there are also stations at Oxshott, Horsley and Effingham. Cobham is at Junction 10 of the M25, only four junctions from Heathrow Airport. The A3 is nearby, providing direct road access to Central London, and out to Guildford and the Surrey countryside.
