For added peace of mind, we thought we’d put together some advice & FAQs which might help to answer your queries or concerns at this difficult time.

Buyer FAQs

  • Will your offices be working during the national lockdown? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    Yes - We will be working as usual but from behind closed doors between Thursday November 5th and Wednesday December 2nd.  Our colleagues remain available via telephone and email with viewings and market appraisals still possible subject to a number of enhanced controls.

  • Can I still get a mortgage? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    Yes, you can. Please talk to your local office about how they can help you. Our staff will happily arrange an appointment with our mortgage partner who can give you all the advice that you need on buying a home.

  • Can you help find a property to buy? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    Yes - You can access details of available properties on our "Buy" page. For further information on a specific property please contact your local office.

  • What about viewing a property? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    Yes Virtual viewings should be used whenever possible to help limit the number of viewings you need to arrange. Prior to the appointment we will provide you with details of how it will be conducted and what is required to help keep everyone safe.

    In England revised guidance relating to the lockdown between November 5th and December 2nd includes:  i. Adherence to social distancing rules ii. Wearing PPE e.g. face coverings iii. Occupiers leaving the property during a viewing iv. Viewings should be limited to 15 minutes v. As few people as possible should be at the property.

    • Prior to requesting an appointment you should, where possible, have already undertaken a virtual viewing in order to help avoid unnecessary appointments.
    • When making an appointment you will be asked if you or any of your household has shown symptoms of Covid-19 or has tested positive in the last 14 days. If yes then we will not be able to proceed with the appointment.
    • We are unable to provide transport to and from appointments.

    • If anyone is presenting Covid-19 symptoms when we arrive at the property we will be unable to proceed.
    • You are requested to bring hand sanitiser with you and to use it before entering the property and again when you leave.
    • From arrival at the property, a 2m distance should be maintained between all persons. In England only this may be reduced to 1m where absolutely necessary.
    • We will seek to minimise the number of people in the same room at the same time.
    • Please avoid touching door handles, light switches and other surfaces wherever possible.
    • The appointment should be limited to 15 minutes and we will answer any questions either outside of the property or over the telephone when we return to the office.
    • As few people as possible should be present at the property.
    • Please wear a face covering whilst on the appointment.  We are unable to provide face coverings for you or to dispose of any that you have used on the appointment.

    • Our colleague will use hand sanitiser or will request to wash their hands upon arrival at the property; they will do the same before leaving.
    • Our colleague will be wearing a protective face covering.
    • They may carry disinfectant spray with them and may need to use this for keys, their kit or even in some areas of the house if they feel they need to.
  • I’ve put an offer in on a property, what happens now? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    We’re still available to support you with buying your dream house. We will keep you updated with progress via email and phone. If you need something urgently, please contact your office or click the "Chat with Us" button on the right-hand side.  You can also contact your solicitor for updates.

  • Should I put my property purchase on hold at this time? Chevron Down IconIcon set Chevron Down

    There is no reason to put your property purchase on hold at this time, in fact as well as seeing a demand in sales the latest data from Rightmove shows that house prices are largely working in the Sellers favour. We will work with you to ensure that viewings are carried out in a safe way that puts you at ease and protects your property; the safety of all of our customers remains our utmost priority.
