This International Women’s Day, we are backing reinstatement of Gender Pay Gap Reporting – we #ChooseToChallenge a further year of its suspension.

Gender pay gap reporting is at risk of being deferred for a second year, despite being a vital tool for equality especially when it comes to women’s rights.

It’s over 50 years since the Equal Pay Act was effected but reality suggests there is still way to go for fairness.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) states that the gender pay gap among all employees was 15.5% in 2020*. It also shows that women in estate agency earn 8.2% less than men – while women hold 61%* of the jobs within the industry.

At John D Wood & Co. we see equality as a fundamental, not just a nice value to have, and financial reward and opportunities should reflect this. We are committed to:

  • Having set salary brackets for all roles – ensuring both women and men are paid equally and fairly on their ability to do the job to set precedent for a fairer future
  • Continue uplifting women to challenge biased behaviours giving equal opportunities at work e.g. flexible working on return from maternity leave
