London's hidden green gems

On the 11th and 12th June 2022 over 100 hidden green gems across the UK’s capital will open their gates for the ‘London Square Open Gardens Weekend’ with five new additions this year.

Properties on garden squares are always highly desirable. Not only do they provide an attractive outlook from one’s home, they also provide an exclusive sense of tranquillity for residents to escape to within the heart of London – one of the world’s biggest cities.

Demand for homes with gardens has been on the rise since the beginning of the pandemic with Zoopla’s Head of Research Gráinne Gilmore recently stating, “Gardens are the second most popular search term on Zoopla (after garage) - and have been consistently over the last two years, meaning it is a real priority for buyers.”

Homes with access to private gardens are in demand from buyers worldwide all year round; however, spring and summer months are typically the most popular times of year for these properties to come to the market, as this is when the gardens are looking at their best and when buyers’ attention is turned to spending more time outside.

Russell Williamson, Sales Manager at our Cadogan Street office comments: “One trend we have seen increase over the last few years is the request for private gardens that allow dogs. This is quite rare, but there are a few that do allow dogs, including the north gardens on Cadogan Place.”
