Pumpkin patches to peruse

While anyone can grab a pumpkin from the supermarket, nothing beats an actual pick-your-own pumpkin patch experience.

There are many wonderful farms that offer children (and their parents) a pick-your-own experience, scroll to find out where.

1. Crockford Bridge Farm, Weybridge, Surrey

Crockford Bridge Farm is one of Surrey’s largest growers of pumpkins and is renowned for its high quality crop which is harvested by hand every year. You can attend their Pumpkin festival which is hosted in the October half term and the third weekend of the month, which entails a day of entertainment, photo opportunities and of course, plenty of pumpkins.

2. Cat and Fiddle Farm, New Forest

The farmers of the Cat and Fiddle Farm are excited to see you for a month of pumpkin picking throughout October. The fields are open from 9am to 6pm every day and there's late night picking on weekends until 8pm. Bring your torch!

3. Millets Farm, Abingdon

Offering a ‘spook-tacular’ experience, Millets Farm is open every day from 15th – 31st October with fields of pumpkins ready for you to pick. Halloween merchandise and pumpkin carving kits are also available to purchase at the pumpkin patch within the farm shop.

4. Garsons, Esher

Every years Garsons in Esher hosts the Pumpkin Parade, where you can visit the farm fields and pick the crops that are available on the day of your visit, as well as be able to choose from a large number of farm-grown pumpkins.

5. Goodall’s Strawberry Farm, Lymington

Known for their strawberry picking from May through to July, in autumn time Goodall’s Strawberry Farm sprouts pumpkins ready for you to pick. During the October half term you can bring your children along to choose your pumpkins for Halloween lanterns, pumpkin soup or even a pumpkin pie.

6. Bocketts Farm, Leatherhead

Bocketts Farm in Leatherhead host a wonderful ‘Witches and Wizards Week’ From 22nd October – 30th October. Providing an opportunity to take a fun family photo in the pumpkin village, enjoy exciting science and slime shows as well as take home a Bocketts Farm Pumpkin, with hundreds to choose from.

7. Hadsham Farm, Banbury

Bring your wellies and enter the muddy Pumpkin Field at Hadsham Farm, where you can follow a spooky sensory trail and pick pumpkins for an optional carving workshop in the barns on 15th – 16th October and 22nd – 30th October 2022.

8. South Downs National Park, Rogate

Located in the South Downs National Park, the family run Rogate Pumpkin Patch is a beautiful experience during Halloween. The pumpkin patch itself has 25 different varieties of pumpkin, gourd and squash ranging from munchkin to monster in size for visitors to pick directly from.

9. Priory Farm, Redhill

Take a tractor ride out to the pumpkin fields at Priory Farm and pluck your very own gourd from the ground this Halloween. Priory Farm grow over 10,000 pumpkins every year, including big ones, small ones, warty ones and more.

From traditional orange Racers to tasty Crown Prince Squash, Rectory farm have several pumpkin varieties for you to pick. There are also several Halloween-themed tricks and treats aplenty for you to purchase. There is also a skilled team of professionals on-hand in the fields who pick their very best every single day for you to purchase.
