About this office

John D Wood & Co Lymington estate agents are based in an easily recognisable, centrally located, Grade II listed former Merchant's Town House. The branch offers a full residential sales, lettings and property management service for the areas of Lymington, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Burley and Sway.

This office specialises in the marketing and sale of property throughout the entire New Forest and its spectacular associated coastline, fronting both The Solent and Christchurch Bay. The area is understandably very popular with its status as a recognised National Park which now extends to over 140,000 acres of ancient heathland and dense woodland, managed on behalf of the Crown Estates by the Forestry Commission. The forest effectively horseshoes the picturesque Georgian market town of Lymington, which has evolved over the years due to a strong association with the historic Salt Trade and, to a lesser degree, a small fishing industry, with much of the 21st Century activity now centering on the yachting fraternity.

The town has two fine deep water marinas (Berthon with over 280 berths and Lymington Yacht Haven with 600 berths), as well as two thriving Yacht Clubs and a Rowing Club. Lymington town offers a diverse array of shopping, educational, both state and private, and extensive leisure amenities with its famed wide period High Street playing host every Saturday to an intriguing Charter Market. The town offers an extraordinary array of properties from quaint former Fishermans Cottages to the more grandiose Merchants Houses with some fine family homes and period gems.

For those with an interest in the countryside, the New Forest Hounds (meet Tuesday and Saturday, throughout the Season) and Rhinefield Polo Club have a loyal following. For those more akin to golf, then the forest offers a plethora of courses, some of which are particularly challenging – try cliff top Barton on a windy day! Cycling and walking, and that goes without saying, is unparalleled.

Transport available includes frequent bus services, with Lymington having a useful branch line that connects within 10 minutes to the mainline rail services afforded by both nearby Brockenhurst and Sway, putting London (Waterloo) within a 90 minute journey.
