John Daniel Wood founded the company in London in 1872 at the age of 23. The first premises of the company were in Mount Street, Mayfair opposite the Connaught Hotel. He developed his practice with considerable success and specialised in country houses and estates. He was one of the first advertisers in Country Life magazine, which was established in 1897, and after the First World War the company regularly took instructions on major houses and estates throughout the UK - a practice which we are proud to continue with to this day.

This focus and passion for country homes and estates is woven into the fabric of John D Wood & Co., and our Country House Department's collective experience of over 200 years provides a personalised touch to our clients, utilising the departments years of experience and knowledge from both the country and the City to offer a tailored service from your own personal agent.

For our Landlords, we have our own in-house Property Management team to ensure complete peace of mind and protect the relationship between landlord and tenant.
